Important information about Pittsburgh accommodations
-
Duquesne University is located on the border between Downtown and Uptown Pittsburgh, and hotels close to campus generally have a parking fee. It will be very difficult to find cheap or free city parking. Attendees will be able to park on campus for a fee
-
If you plan to book accommodations other than the ones we have suggested, we highly recommend that you consult a map (e.g., Google Maps, Apple Maps) in order to determine how you will get to campus for the conference events. Due to Pittsburgh’s unique topography, it can take much longer than it seems like it should to travel short distances, especially if your travel might involve crossing a bridge, going through a tunnel, or up one of Pittsburgh’s famous steep staircases.

How to Get There
Transportation from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
-
Transportation times from the airport to Duquesne University will vary greatly depending on traffic, but 30 minutes is a good estimate during periods of regular traffic.
-
Rideshares like Lyft and Uber are generally readily available to transport people from the airport to Uptown/Downtown and other Pittsburgh neighborhoods.
-
Budget option: The 28X PRT bus will take you near campus (and other areas). Please allow plenty of time for this option. There are multiple apps that can help you navigate Pittsburgh public transit (Port Authority Ready2Ride, Transit). We recommend consulting these apps because public transit information provided by Google or Apple Maps can be unreliable.
-
Other options (not an exhaustive list): ZTrip, Yellow Cab, rental car (but expect to pay for parking near the conference).
Walking Directions to Conference Events
Most conference events will take place within two buildings on Duquesne’s campus: The Power Center and College Hall. See the conference schedule to confirm exact locations.
Power Center:
-
If you are traveling on foot from the Drury or other local accommodations, you can enter the Power Center from Forbes Avenue and take an elevator up to the 5th floor.
-
If you are traveling from St. Ann’s dorm (the on-campus accommodation), you will walk across the Skylar Skywalk and enter on the 5th floor of the Power Center.
-
If you are parking in the Forbes or Locust Garage, you should take the parking garage elevator to the top floor, exit the garage, and take the Skylar Skywalk to the Power Center.
College Hall:
-
On Friday, following the opening keynote, conference volunteers will lead the group from the Power Center to College Hall.
-
Please use the campus map at all other times to find College Hall. Sessions will be held on the 2ndfloor, which is best accessed by the entrance off Academic Walk.
Where to Park
On campus parking is available in both the Forbes and Locust Garages for a fee. Rates vary depending on day of the week and length of time. You can find daily parking rates here: Parking rates
