Important information about Pittsburgh accommodations

  • Duquesne University is located on the border between Downtown and Uptown Pittsburgh, and hotels close to campus generally have a parking fee. It will be very difficult to find cheap or free city parking. Attendees will be able to park on campus for a fee (we are finalizing these details with the University, but it will likely be a lower rate than regular city parking.)

  • If you plan to book accommodations other than the ones we have suggested, we highly recommend that you consult a map (e.g., Google Maps, Apple Maps) in order to determine how you will get to campus for the conference events. Due to Pittsburgh’s unique topography, it can take much longer than it seems like it should to travel short distances, especially if your travel might involve crossing a bridge, going through a tunnel, or up one of Pittsburgh’s famous steep staircases.

How to Get There

Transportation from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)

  • Transportation times from the airport to Duquesne University will vary greatly depending on traffic, but 30 minutes is a good estimate during periods of regular traffic.

  • Rideshares like Lyft and Uber are generally readily available to transport people from the airport to Uptown/Downtown and other Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

  • Budget option: The 28X PRT bus will take you near campus (and other areas). Please allow plenty of time for this option. There are multiple apps that can help you navigate Pittsburgh public transit (Port Authority Ready2Ride, Transit). We recommend consulting these apps because public transit information provided by Google or Apple Maps can be unreliable.

  • Other options (not an exhaustive list): ZTrip, Yellow Cab, rental car (but expect to pay for parking near the conference).
